There’s something magical about walking into a space where every detail has been thoughtfully arranged to create beauty and coziness. This understanding wasn’t something I learned in business MBA or at my Law University or even from a design course and Event school. – it was inherited from watching my mother transform our home into a living canvas of color and warmth.
My earliest memories are filled with the sight of my mother in her garden, working alongside her gardener, her hands deep in the soil as she observed her beloved flowers. While we had professional help, she was never a passive observer. Rain or shine, she would be out there, discussing the placement of new bulbs, deciding which roses needed extra care, or simply admiring the way morning light caught the dewdrops on petals. Her mornings never started before reading the Bible and talking to God, then a cup of coffee, a treat that she never missed. Most mornings, this cup of coffee was drunk outside with her colorful friends.
Our home was her refugee, her nest not only for us but for all our friends. No matter when guests arrived – planned or unexpected – they could have the pleasant experience being received by fresh flowers arranged with an artistic touch that seemed she hired a professional every single day. Well this professional was just her being her!
And it was not only about flowers, each room told a story through its decor, creating an atmosphere that made everyone feel instantly at home. The flowers weren’t just decorative elements; they were expressions of love, carefully chosen and arranged to bring joy to anyone who entered our home.
These weren’t just beautiful displays – they were lessons in the art of creating moments. Without realizing it, I was learning how physical spaces could transform experiences and touch hearts. Every time I watched my mother adjust a vase or rearrange a room, she was teaching me that true hospitality is about creating environments where memories can bloom. And oh boy this is so true!!
Today, as an event and wedding planner, I carry these precious lessons with me. When I left my successfull corporate career, many wondered if I was making the right choice or if I was becoming crazy. But I knew in my heart that I was following a calling that had been planted long ago in my mother’s garden. Every event I plan isn’t just about the logistics or the aesthetics – it’s about creating those same feelings of warmth and wonder that I experienced growing up.
When I work with clients, I’m not just offering my professional expertise. I’m sharing a legacy of love for beauty and attention to detail that was passed down to me. Each centerpiece I arrange, each space I decorate, carries echoes of those childhood moments, watching my mother transform our home into a haven of beauty.
This is why I approach each event with both precision and passion. Whether it’s an intimate wedding or a grand celebration, I believe in creating spaces and moments that don’t just look beautiful, but feel beautiful – spaces where memories can take root and flourish, just like the flowers in my mother’s garden.
The transition from corporate life to event planning wasn’t just a career change – it was a return to my roots, to the lessons learned among the flower beds and carefully curated rooms of my childhood home. Every event I plan is an opportunity to share this gift, to create not just beautiful spaces but moments that will live in hearts forever, just as my mother’s garden lives in mine.
In every bouquet I select, in every room I style, I carry forward her legacy of creating beauty and warmth. And in doing so, I’ve found not just a career, but my true calling – helping others create moments that will bloom, grow and stay in their memories forever.
