The DIY Wedding Disaster

The DIY Wedding Disaster

Let’s talk about Pietra. Pietra was determined to save money by planning her wedding herself, with some help from her friends and family. After all, Aunt Laura has excellent taste in flowers, her cousin Mike once set up a DJ booth, and her BFF Jessica is “super organized,” so what could go wrong?

Well…everything.

The cake arrived and melted. Yes, melted. It turns out cousin Mike forgot to tell the baker that the wedding was outdoors in July, and nobody thought to check the weather.

Then there was the music situation. Mike, the self-proclaimed “DJ Genius,” accidentally brought the wrong playlist. So, instead of Sarah walking down the aisle to a dreamy violin instrumental, she made her grand entrance with music chosen at the last minute. And let’s not forget the seating arrangement. Jessica, usually so organized, misunderstood Sarah’s sketch of the seating chart and placed people where they were not supposed to be.

Poor Aunt Laura’s floral arrangements arrived late because she had to drive across town to pick them up herself. The ceremony aisle was decorated with a mismatched mix of daisies, sunflowers, and what might have been weeds. To Aunt Linda, “Flowers are flowers. “She is not wrong, but it is not what Pietra had in mind.

And what about Pietra?  She spent the entire day trying to fix one disaster after another. She was late for the makeup, she was sweating so much because of the stress, and all the time on her cellphone asking people to check something, making the makeup artist crazy. But most importantly and sad, she also missed all the beautiful moments she had spent months dreaming about. By the time the night ended, she was exhausted, frustrated, and barely remembered the “best day of her life. “Ah, the cousin, aunt, and friends were all exhausted.

Moral of the Story: Hiring an event planner doesn’t just save you time and stress—it saves your sanity. Your friends and family are there to celebrate with you, not manage logistics, troubleshoot disasters, or handle rogue DJs. A professional planner ensures that everything is perfect so you can enjoy your wedding, laugh with your loved ones, and cherish every magical moment.

Don’t be Pietra. Invest in an event planner and give yourself the gift of peace of mind—because family and friends running around to stop the fire is not the wedding memories you deserve.
